Anti-War Artists~~:~~~About

This website is a compilation of artwork with anti-war, political, and environmental themes. It is comprised of artists from where ever I have found their work, on various anti-war art websites online, and personal websites. This is not a generalized statement because most of the artists that will be displaying their artwork here will have their own statements. This is to describe what you can find here, and why.

Anti-war art is a form of protest and activism against injustice. It's another way for people to express their disappointment, outrage and shock at war and the actions of violence we see growing in the world today. It's like an anti-war song, or a speech; it's a statement.

Not all artists here will have the same message and I have no idea if they even agree with me or with each other politically, and that's fine. The purpose of expression regarding war and other atrocities is not to agree but to convey an idea, an opinion. The idea here will be that "these actions are not acceptable and they must stop, along with whatever nuances a particular artist wants to add to that.

Generally, I think we can all agree that war is inhumane, and innocent people suffer for the greed of a certain class of oppressors. I would take it farther than that, but that will suffice for now. Read the artists statements that will be here in the months to come for more information on the ideas behind each person's work.

And spread the word: this type of work is not nearly prevalent enough, and we depend on people who find this site to advertise it for us.
